2. LGBT FOLKS ARE GOING HAM!

Oh boy, Queers are going apeshit right now… Donna Summer has passed away today. Raven Symone is a lesbian (recent reports say), and John Travolta is going thru a lawsuit for being a gross predatory cruiser at upscale massage parlors requesting that only male masseurs service him.

    I Cant.

    ::Dead::

One of the main reasons why I like the idea of seeing a White man is because I have this little healthy kink in my soul that says, “I will whip this White boy into shape if he comes out his face with some off shit. He will respect my Black personhood, whether he likes it or not. He gon’ learn in this relationship.”

In interracial relationships, not many Queer White men respect the personhoods of Queer MoC. I’ll be Goddess-damned if I let any White man reduce me to an uninspiring, racist stereotype about Black male genitalia. He will get got. So the thought of a Queer White man respecting me as a human being in a relationship makes me kinda horny. Ijs.

this is how i’ve been feeling as of lately while doing the dating thing… i dont date white men, precisely because of the racism and all that baggage. But there have to be some whiteboys who got they shit together though… RIGHT?

    tw: murder

An advocate for the Mexican lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, and queer (LGBTQ) community, Agnes Torres Sulca, was found murdered in Atlixco, Puebla this past Saturday, March 10.

According to reports from the State Attorney’s Office, the body of Agnes…

Que pena! My heart goes out to this womans family. Another sister was taken from us. Violence against transwomen of color continues to sky rocket world wide, and the only thing queers want is marriage equality..? smh

  8. While watching the video, for the 4th time, just a couple of minutes ago it finally fazed me where I recognized the visual material from the Ready for the World music video. As if How to Dress Well couldn’t make me love him anymore, he has officially topped himself; He used one of my favorite movies EVER. God, I have no words but “I LOVE ART!”. <3

To celebrate the album’s release, How To Dress Well has commissioned a video for the first single “Ready For The World.” Director Jamie Harley takes auteur-director Rainier Werner Fassbinder’s In a Year of Thirteen Moons and puts it through the kaleidoscope. The movie is about the bleak wasteland that is unrequited love, the song’s blissed-out sadness works perfectly with the glitzy-yet-forlorn imagery of wandering through a casino alone.

Queerer Than Thou - Queerer Than Thou is a comedy that tackles the age-old question of Who is the queerest of them all?. With a cast representing many diverse aspects of LGBT/Queer communities, Queerer Than Thou explores the boundaries of identity, and the tensions that frequently exist along these borderlands. Through off-beat humor and a surreal dance-off finale, Queerer Than Thou pokes fun at LGBT/Queer communities from within. This unique and amusing critique of identity politics has screened at over 30 film festivals world wide and continues to screen at colleges throughout the US.

Gay Oppression in Africa: Map outlining the penalties targeting gays & lesbians in Africa
submitted by planetxerox.tumblr.com

It is always important to know that homosexual oppression was devised in the West and imposed on Africa. Many anti-homosexuality legislation remains in place from colonial laws, not native African ones.

this is awful

OMG

disgusting.

2011 Aug. 6: As the world met in Sweden for Stockholm Pride, people marched alongside our fellow activists from Africa, Europe, Asia…. People marched for all those LGBTI individuals who did not make it due to queerphobic hate crimes. These individuals remembered all victims of brutal hate crimes and survivors of ‘curative rapes’ in South Africa and around the world. They pray for the ongoing hate crime cases to be resolved by those who are in charge of the legal system. They pray for the families, lovers, friends, daughters and sons whose beloved succumbed to queerphobia/ transphobia…
and I am with them, in solidarity

The two teenage boys sitting on the sofa opposite are different in almost every way. On the left is James: he’s black, he’s gay, he’s gregarious, and he’s academic. He’s taking three A-levels next summer, and wants to go to university. Daniel, sitting beside him, is white. He’s straight, he’s shy, and he didn’t enjoy school at all. He left after taking GCSEs, and hopes that his next move will be an apprenticeship in engineering.
So, given that they are diametrically opposed, there is one truly surprising thing about James and Daniel. They are twins. They were born on 27 March 1993, the sons of Alyson and Errol Kelly, who live in south-east London. And from the start, it was obvious to everyone that they were the complete flipside of identical. “They were chalk and cheese, right from the word go,” says Alyson. “It was hard to believe they were even brothers, let alone twins.”
The boys’ colour was the most obvious, and extraordinary, difference. “When James was born he was the spitting image of Errol, and I remember seeing his curly hair and thinking – he’s just like his dad. It was another two hours before Daniel was born: and what a surprise he was! He was so white and wrinkly, with this curly blond hair.”

This is actually fairly common but the media always makes it seem like they’re super unusual. Other cases of one “black” twin and one “white” twin:
Two sets of twins in the Spooner-Durrant family
Triniti and Ghabriael Cunningham
Ryan and Leo Gerth
Remee and Kian Hodgson
Alicia and Jasmin Singerl
Layton and Kaydon Wood
Orlando and Natalia Balasco
Leo and Hope Wales
Marcia and Millie Biggs
Fraser twins
And this is only cases where both twins have the same biological parents. I turned up a few more where the twins had different fathers. If a quick Google search turns up all these results from just the past few years I think this must be a more common occurrence than the media gives it credit for.

I think they look similar.

The Experiences of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgendered Students of Color in Our Nation’s Schools, 2009
For all LGBT students, having access to school-based resources, suchas students clubs that address LGBT students’ issues, school staffwho are supportive of LGBT students, and LGBT-inclusive curricularresources, can make a positive impact on their school experiences andoverall school climate. Unfortunately, the majority of LGBT students ofcolor did not have these important resources in school:• Only about a third of LGBT students of color (36%) reported thattheir school had a student club that addressed LGBT issues, suchas a Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA). Among students who did havea GSA in school, however, a majority regularly participated in clubactivities – 57% of African American and multiracial students, 59%of Latino/a students, 60% of Asian/Pacific Islander students, and69% of Native American students participated in GSA activities atleast sometimes.• The majority of LGBT students of color (82%) in our survey couldidentify at least one teacher or other school staff member whowas supportive. However, only 36% of students of color reportedhaving many (six or more) supportive staff available to them inschool.• Few LGBT students of color had access to LGBT-inclusivecurricular resources in school. Less than a fifth of students hadbeen taught about LGBT-related people, history, or events in theirclasses, or had such information available in their textbooks (14%each). Furthermore, only 38% reported that they could accessLGBT-related resources in their school library.• Less than a fifth of all LGBT students of color (18%) reported thattheir school had a comprehensive policy to address in-schoolharassment and assault, which provided specific protectionsbased on sexual orientation and gender identity/expression.

    Homotopia
a film by Chris Vargas and Eric Stanley
screening and Q and A with Eric Stanley and Ralowe T. Ampu

Set sometime in the future-present Homotopia chronicles a group of radical queers dedicated to exposing the trouble with gay marriage, dismantling the State, undoing Empire, while looking totally fierce. Woven into the story of Yoshi’s adventures in love, resistance, and sex, is a critique of the crushing violence of homonormativity and its deadly perpetuation of US patriotism, conservative kinship structures and affective accumulation. Homotopia holds cinematic assumptions hostage through its motley assemblage of never-passing crew. Race, gender, ability and desire are reworked through an anti-colonial take of queer struggle creating a visual rhythm of melancholic utopianism that knows there may be no future but still hopes today is not their last. Love revolution, not State delusion, Homotopia.
